Legends of gaming

For this commission I was asked to find a concept to illustrate an article about some of the most iconic video game developers in the world. They comprised of the founder of Atari, the originator of Tetris, the developer of Doom so in essence, A listers in the gaming world.

I thought it would be a nice concept to depict them as king playing cards and so went about creating a king card that incorporated elements from what each gaming area they were responsible for. I used a variety of media to create the cards including pen & ink, 3D and photographs. These cards were then composited into a piece of artwork that the art editor was delighted with.

The cards were mainly created with large pen and ink renderings. These elements were then mixed with the photographs of the legends of gaming.
